- Last night, I thought about quite a special kind of menu : a playable
- one... Yes, we do have a cool engine. Then what about creating a special level,
- which would give access to the player to different features, which would be
- represented as objects the player has to shoot to validate the corresponding
- option. For example, to set-up the Sound FX, we could include in the menu
- level, a building looking like a piano, where we could find a musical notes
- line, going from little notes to huge ones, representating the sound volume.
- Or, more simply, the menu level would be a room, with as much walls as options
- we have to choose between, the player could then shoot a wall, and he would
- access to a 'classical' menu. For example, if he shoots in a wall textured with
- 'BMW', the game will take him to a menu, where he'll be able to
- choose between the several BMW available on his disk. This could be an original
- way of proposing a menu... And to exit the game, we could put a stairway, going
- down through a very dark corridor (fading to black, when going down), with an
- 'exit teleporter'. This could really be fun... What about you ?
-
- I just read Tommi's idea, about a 'multi-world' game, which is in my
- mind an interesting concept (every concept that hasn't been done yet is
- interesting :) ). The problem is to do it (perhaps could Nike help us ?).
- Perhaps we could organize some kind of 'diffusion list', where people who
- created a level and who wants to include it to BM's 'MULTunIverse' could
- write, giving an FTP adress where their BMW file can be found. All those
- information would be compiled (monthly), so that interested players can
- download the file to their machine. A _very_ fun feature would be to interface
- BM with a FTP client program, like STIK. The update of the new BMWs could be
- used by BM, so that if a player wants to access a given level, the game can
- upload it... Perhaps it would be difficult to do, but I really think it would
- make BM very special... And we could have a special kinda teleporter, which
- allows a jump to a file located at a given FTP adress. If the player uses the
- given teleporter, the game tests if the file is already on the local disk, and
- if not, it downloads it directly... This seems to be a virtual world... :) I
- know this is not the main objective, but I don't think that anyone here will
- find it to be a bad idea... Am I wrong ? Sure, Tommi will LOVE it ! Tommi ? :)
